Karen Baptist Community Church to Worship in Kelmscott Hills!

Harley Dykstra has obtained a Development Application approval for Karen Baptist Community Church to establish a new Place of Worship on a rural property on Brookton Highway in the Kelmscott Hills. Construction of the 200 seating capacity building could begin later in 2020. Karen Baptist Community Church can look forward to worshiping at their new premises as early as 2021.

At the time of proposal, the Local Authorities were working hard to tighten zoning restrictions in their Local Planning Scheme to prevent the opportunity of a place of worship in the area. Through close and consistent collaboration with the Council and WA Planning Commission, Harley Dykstra sought to relax the zoning requirements. It was a race against time as Harley Dykstra aimed to obtain approval before the zoning changes were to be applied.

Another challenge faced was meeting the requirement that Main Roads put forward. Originally Main Roads objected to the proposed development. They were primarily concerned about the risk associated with the intersection that was proposed. After listening to concerns Harley Dykstra worked closely with Main Roads and traffic consultant to design and negotiate solutions to appease concerns.

With patience, persistence, local knowledge and commitment to clients, Harley Dykstra is always willing and ready to persist until approval is granted.
