Harley Dykstra is pleased to be able to contribute planning and survey services to the expansion project at the Busselton-Margaret River Regional Airport. We were appointed in September 2016 to assist the City with consolidating some existing planning approvals and implementing one of our own, to contribute towards the expansion of the parcel of land which houses the existing airport and runway.
The expansion project at the airport intends to provide the ability to service both interstate and international air traffic for both passenger and freight services. As the project is fully funded, the aim is to deliver it in a relatively short timeframe. Harley Dykstra was able to offer swift mobilisation to the project and offered its expertise and experience with regard to consolidating Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) approvals and legal plan drafting. This has led to time and cost savings in the overall process. The project has benefitted from our positive working relationship with the WAPC.
Harley Dykstra’s survey staff were able to apply their experience in operating in security restricted areas and working along airport staff, to effectively conduct survey of the new boundaries both in the airport surrounds, as well as the airside land component of the site. As a result, the majority of the airport boundary framework now benefits from having been spatially upgraded with modern, survey accurate GPS positions.
In we have worked with the City, landowners, WAPC and Landgate to draw together a boundary reconfiguration solution that we believe will facilitate a timely completion of this phase of the project. This will, in turn enable the commencement of site works in the near future.
We believe that this project offers huge benefits to the South West region as a whole, and holds exciting possibilities for the future of the place we call home. We are glad to have been given the opportunity to participate in this project and look forward to using the facility when the upgrades are complete.
